Planters Lodge No. 147.
On January 18, 1855 Planters Lodge no. 147 received a Warrant from the Grand Lodge of Texas. A two-story Masonic building was erected, the first floor served as a school, and a community center shared by the Methodist and Baptist congregations before they constructed their own churches, the Baptists in 1871 and the Methodist in 1873. Masonic Lodges were originally started to provide public education. Sometime later Planters Lodge built what now serves as the Masonic Lodge next to the original two-story building that still serves as Town Hall.
